On Secure Access to Medical Implants

In this talk we discuss secure access to (implantable) medical devices. We show that some common IMD access control solutions do not provide strong security guarantees and we review recent proposals for secure IMD access. We explore in more detail proximity-based solutions and their possible realizations. We further discuss selected security and privacy issues that might emerge with an increasing push for interconnectivity of medical devices with personal devices (e.g., smartphones, PCs).
