Abstract:
The emergence of new device technologies helps to blur the gap between memory and logic. Ferroelectric technology provides an opportunity for using a device that can be tuned either as a steep slope transistor (Negative Capacitance FET) or as memory. This talk will highlight on how this technology can integrate memory and logic seamlessly and even enable new non-Von Neumann computational models. This talk will also highlight on the use of monolithic 3D integration as another promising technology that can blur the conventional difference between memory and logic.
About the speaker:
Vijay Narayanan is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. Vijay received his Bachelors in Computer Science & Engineering from University of Madras, India in 1993 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of South Florida, USA, in 1998. He is a co-director of the Microsystems Design Lab.
His research and teaching interests are in Power Aware Computing, Computer Architecture Embedded Systems, Design and Design Automation of Electronic Systems. Prof. Narayanan is a fellow of ACM and IEEE.
