Behavioral Transformations and Verification using Canonical Taylor Expansion Diagrams

Naser Khosropour, MERDCI (Microelectronics Research and Development Center of Iran), Tehran, Iran

Abstract: This presentation covers three main topics related to design and implementation of high-performance embedded systems. The first topic details the design and implementation of a Set-Top-Box Residential Gateway for terrestrial and IPTV applications. After a short discussion about DVB-T Set-Top-Box Evolution into an IP-enabled Home Gateway, MERDCI's plan for developing DVB-RCT & DVB-H chipsets will be discussed. DVB-RCT Chipset will be used in developing MERDCI's IPTV enabled DVB-T Set-Top-Box Residential Gateway. The second topic is about developing MERDCI's Zigbee Chipset, mainly Design and FPGA Implementation of MAC and Physical layers of this IEEE802.15.4 compliant chipset. A few applications including Home Automation and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) have been developed based on this chipset and Zigbee Profile, that will be discussed. The third topic is about design and implementation of a 24-bit fixed point DSP Processor for telecommunication applications. First of all, architecture and general features of this DSP processor will be discussed and after that a technical report, regarding design and FPGA implementation of this fixed point DSP processor will be presented.

About the speaker: Naser Khosropour, received his B.Sc. & M.Sc. Degrees in Electrical Engineering from SUT (Sharif University of Technology), Tehran, Iran in 2000 and 2002. He joined Emad Semicon Co, Tehran, Iran as a senior digital designer in 2001. During his cooperation with Emad Semicon Co, he worked on a few projects, including design and implementation of Time Slot Assigner & U-law/A-law Coding Blocks for Multi Channel Audio Codec, Design and FPGA Implementation of a fixed point 24 bit DSP Processor for telecommunication applications and developing soft IP cores for Smart Card. HE joined MERDCI (Microelectronics Research and Development Center of Iran) in March 2004 as head of Communication System application group and digital department of VLSI research group. During his employment in MERDCI, he worked on a few projects, mainly design and FPGA implementation of MAC and Physical layers of IEEE802.15.4 transceiver, design and FPGA implementation of DVB-H Demodulator and developing a Set-Top-Box Residential Gateway for terrestrial and IPTV applications.
