Study of On-site Monitoring Sensors for Agriculture and Disaster Prevention
Tuesday, 3 March 2015 at 14:00 in INF 328
Masato Futagawa, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Shizuoka University, Shizuoka City, Japan
Abstract:
On-site monitoring sensors are needed in various fields which require real time and continuous measurements. However, the monitoring are difficult to realize for many problems; inhibiting external factors, prolonged stability, etc. We fabricated a multimodal sensor integrated with electrical conductivity (EC), pH and temperature sensor on a Si chip. Simultaneous measurement method using the sensor chip was established. The multimodal sensor was demonstrated several type of environment in agriculture, livestock raising, and disaster prevention fields. It was shown that the on-site monitoring was useful approach in their fields.
About the speaker:
Masato Futagawa received his MS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering, Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan in 2002. After graduation he immediatly joined the Toshiba Corporation and worked as a process integration engineer in the Semiconductor Group. He resigned from Toshiba in December 2007 to pursue a PhD degree. Starting from January 2008 he was a researcher at the Toyohashi University of Technology. He received his PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan in 2011. Until April 2014 he was with the same university as a project assistant professor.
Dr. Futagawa is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Shizuoka University, Japan.
