Efficient Resource-Management in Cyber-Physical Systems
Tuesday, 1 March 2016 at 10:00 in room INF 328
Amir Aminifar, Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden
Abstract:
Today, in embedded and cyber-physical systems, the execution platform is typically shared among several applications with different performance requirements and resource demands. Such resource sharing poses several challenges to the traditional resource-management techniques in the embedded systems area. On the one hand, the modern resource-management techniques are expected to support compositionality, isolation, and efficiency, just to name a few. On the other hand, different performance requirements and resource demands of applications should be taken into consideration by these modern resource-management techniques. For instance, in the case of control applications, the system is often required to provide high expected (average-case) control performance, in addition to worst-case stability guarantees. This talk motivates the need for novel resource-management techniques for cyber-physical systems and suggests some solutions for the case of embedded control applications.
About the speaker:
Amir Aminifar received the BSc degree from Sharif University of Technology in 2010. He is currently working toward the PhD degree in the Computer Science Department, Linköping University, Sweden. In 2014-2015, he has been a visiting researcher in the Cyber-Physical Group, University of California, Los Angeles, USA and in the Real-Time Systems Group of Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, Italy. His research interests are centered around the analysis, design, and optimization of embedded and cyber-physical systems.
