System-Level Middleware for Sytems on Chip

Abstract: During the nineties the traditional remote procedure call concept evolved in sophisticated software architectures for distributed heterogeneous programming. Many of the goals achieved by these architectures are also main concerns for hardware designers when they face the growing complexity of coming systems. Issues such as location transparency, migration transparency, replication transparency and network transparency are all handled in a unified manner.
In this talk I will present preliminary results on a hardware middleware which leverages the achievements of standard distributed object oriented platforms and provides a simple and intuitive model for hardware-software component interfacing.
About the speaker: Fernando Rincón is an assistant professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. His research interests focus on hardware-software codesing, and reconfigurable computing. He obtained his degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
