Research activities are carried out in the frame of the LSI laboratory of EPFL. (Laboratoire des Systèmes Intégrés - Integrated Systems Laboratory).

Current research activities

• Logic synthesis for established and emerging technologies.
  Logic synthesis is a technology enabler as it allows us to quantify impact of emerging technologies.
• Quantum electronics and logic synthesis for superconducting circuits
  Superconducting circuits enable us to achieve higher performance and reduced energy consumption.

   

Recent projects

• Quantum compilation.
  Algorithms, tools and libraries to transform computation in quantum programming languages into quantum gates.
  
• Sensors, circuits and systems for ion monitoring on the human body.
  A platform for measuring several ions applicable to wearable systems on the human body.
• Design, realisation and test of controlled-polarity transistors in emerging technologies (Si and WSe₂)
  A ten year research effort by several LSI researchers.
• Design, realisation and test of the back end of an ultrasound imaging system with 3D capability
  This work is part of UltrasoundToGo project of the Nano-Tera.ch initiative funded by the Swiss Confederation.

        

The EPFL Logic Synthesis Libraries - downloads

LSI researchers design and maintain several dedicated C++ open source libraries. An overview of all libraries, links to them, and some examples on how to use them are available in the logic synthesis libraries showcase repository.

The EPFL Logic Synthesis Benchmarks

LSI researchers maintain a list of large combinatorial benchmarks. Associated with this list, LSI supports is an ongoing competition on finding the smallest size or smallest depth 6-LUT networks for these benchmarks. More information can be found on the logic synthesis benchmarks repository.

CirKit and RevKit

CirKit and RevKit are command line tools for classical logic optimization and quantum compilation, respectively. They provide a friendly user interface to most of the functionality in the EPFL logic synthesis libraries. Apart from being command line tools, CirKit and RevKit can also be used as Python or C libraries, for integration into other tools and frameworks.
